Often times what impresses us the most is when someone is very attentive to details. Our driveways are possibly the most practical part of our home, they allow us to park our cars, our kids to play basketball, and most importantly keep our vehicles off the lawn (hopefully). We can see however, that this part of home design is usually overlooked. We settle for the basic black asphalt, which is fine.
But have you ever considered using your driveway to accentuate your home design, rather than just looking at it from a pragmatic point of view?
The only real limitation to driveway customization is your own imagination. HouseLogic.com has a great photo gallery that shows various ways that are relatively simple and will really make your driveway stand out.
You can create a brick track for your tires, and fill the interior in with ground covers, creating a pattern that allows grass to grow in between the concrete areas. If the cost of using bricks for the entire area is prohibitive, but you like the style, you can actually use faux brick, which is made from asphalt. It is considerably less expensive, and gives you the same desired look.
Whether any of these unique styles interest you, or you prefer the simplicity of blacktop, make your driveway your own and allow it to be as much a part of the home design as anything else.
*Remember, if you live in a Westervelt Community all designs must be approved by the ARB before construction begins.
